Culture, MoU between Montenegrin Community and Istrian Union

Signed in Trieste to develop mutual knowledge

14 October, 19:41
(ANSA) - TRIESTE, OCTOBER 14 - A memorandum of understanding signed today in Trieste by the president of the Italian community of Montenegro, Aleksandar Dender, and the president of the Union of the Istrians, Massimiliano Lacota, has the goal to start a collaboration in the field of cultural, historical-political and linguistic initiatives. It also aims to enhance the exchanges of experiences envisaging mutual knowledge and the promotion of studies, research, conferences and educational activities linked to the common Venetian tradition of the eastern Adriatic Area.

According to the document, the two organizations consider it "important to build relationships with associations, private and public bodies, as well as cities and regions of the eastern Adriatic area, which have a lot in common due to cultural and historical-political ties. These relationships are precious in terms of culture and history and can also pave the way for mutual knowledge." Italian Senator Tatjana Rojc, who attended the ceremony, remarked "the importance of culture as a universal bridge," underlining that "ideologies, history, and events can divide but the universal values of culture remain something that cannot be broken, because they speak of the human being and not only of the individual. The community of Montenegro - she added - is an industrious testimony of the Latin-Venetian culture on the opposite shore, and it is precious because it is located in a country that is still outside the European prospect."
