Labour: hourly costs rise significantly in Romania
Up also in Latvia, Hungary, Lithuania and Croatia
16 September, 16:20The increases in Romania, Latvia and Hungary are much higher than the EU average. Eurostat said that hourly labour costs rose by 2.2% in the euro area and by 2.6% in the EU28 in the second quarter of 201, compared with the same quarter of 2017.
Strong increases in hourly labour costs were registered year-on-year also in other countries in Central-and Eastern Europe, including Lithuania and Croatia (+9.8%), Czech Republic (+9.3%), Bulgaria (+8.5%), Slovakia (+7.9%) and Poland (+6.2%).
