Migrants a 'danger for existence, Christian culture' - Orban

Hungarian premier in Sofia, EU should think about border defense

20 February, 18:39
(ANSA) - SOFIA - Migration "is dangerous for our existence and for Christian culture in Europe", Hungarian premier Viktor Orban said during his visit to Sofia.

"The EU should put the defense of its external borders and the reallocation of migrants at the center of its policy".

During a joint press conference with Bulgarian Premier Boyko Borissov, Orban congratulated with Sofia for the "useful contacts with Turkey to protect the borders" from illegal migrants. "Hungary will always support cooperation between Bulgaria and Turkey in this direction", he added.

According to the Hungarian premier, "it is not sufficient to politically welcome to the EU western Balkan countries", which in his opinion "should be integrated especially through infrastructures that currently are not there". Boyko Borissov stated that "it is possible to reach a compromise to update the Dublin regulation on the reallocation of migrants". He said he believes it is necessary to organize "hosting centers for migrants near conflict zones". (ANSA).
