(ANSA) - WARSAW - The export of vegetables from Poland fell
by 19% in 2015 compared to the year before, while the export of
fruit decreased by 10% in the same period of reference, local
media reported citing the data released by the Foundation of
assistance programmes for agriculture (Fapa).
Analysts claim that the major factor to determine the decrease
has been the Russian food ban introduced in August 2014 as a
response to the sanctions against Moscow over the Ukrainian
crisis.
The rise in exports towards the other EU countries has
partially compensated for the loss, with and increase of 181,000
tons of fresh fruit and 100,000 tons of vegetables compared to
2014.
According to Fapa, Poland exported a total of 680,000 tons of
vegetables and 1,1 million tons of fresh fruit in 2015. (ANSA).
