Migrants, letter from 44 rebel MPs delivered to Merkel

Against reception, they call for rigorous application of law

19 January, 15:28
(ANSA) - BERLIN - The letter written by the ''rebels'' belonging to Angela Merkel's CDU party, calling for a breakthrough in Germany's asylum seeker policy, has been delivered to the chancellery in Berlin. The document was signed by 44 representatives of the Union (CDU-CSU), but the malcontents are at least one hundred, that is one third of the group in the Bundestag (which includes 310 MPs).

''We are faced with an excessive effort for our country - they wrote in the letter, which had been announced some days ago -, for this reason, we deem it necessary to change the current immigration policy and resume the rigorous application of existing laws''. (ANSA).
