Immigration: Germany, asylum applications, + 132% in 2015
Since January, over 179,000 requests, most of them from Syria

(ANSA) - BERLIN - More than 179,000 people have applied for asylum in Germany, in the first six months of this year. The news was announced today in Berlin by the German Interior Ministry, who added that there has been an increase by 132% over the same period in 2014.
''The current flow of refugees poses a huge challenge'', minister Thomas de Maiziere commented. Syria, Kosovo, Albania, Serbia, Iraq and Afghanistan stand out among the countries of origin of asylum seekers. (ANSA).
