Kosovo, Italian Army donates bridge next to Decani monastery

Agreement to facilitate KFOR military activities

(ANSA) - PEC / PEJA - An agreement for the construction of a Bailey bridge next to the monastery ''Visoki Decani'' was signed this morning at Camp Village Italy, by the Mayor of Decan / Decani, Rasim Selmanaj, and the abbot Father Sava Janic.

The agreement, wanted by KFOR Commander Major General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, will resolve operational problems, allowing KFOR military forces protecting the monastery to safely cross the river bordering with the building, reducing the time of action of the troops, as a press release issued by KFOR reported. The Orthodox Monastery of Decan/Decani is the only place in Kosovo where KFOR is still primarily responsible for security, which is guaranteed by means of the Multinational Battle Group West, multinational Italian-led unit based on Alpini's Regiment 5th, commanded by Colonel Carlo Cavalli.
