Energy: funds for gas connection Croatia-Bosnia

Project will reduce dependency from Russia

20 February, 16:37
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, FEBRUARY 20 - The Bosnian gas distributor BH Gas has signed a grant agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and with the US Agency for International Development (USAID) for a project to connect the gas grid of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the Croatian one, local media reported. The funds will be used for environmental impact and feasibility studies.

The project, which foresees the construction of a gas pipeline from Zagvozd (Croatia) to Posusje and Travnik, in Bosnia, with an additional branch towards Mostar, will secure an additional gas supply route for Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Balkan country is currently entirely dependent on Russian gas imports from Serbia, the regional Tv N1 reported. BH Gas expects that a detailed plan for the project could be completed by the end of 2020, N1 added. (ANSA).
