Environment: Bosnia, 4 mn from Sweden for public buildings
To cut down consumption, emissions
21 February, 16:09Sweden's support will help reduce the environmental impact and waste in public buildings with the energy requalification of 54 buildings, according to the website Balkan Green Energy News.
The buildings are responsible for 55% of Bosnia Herzegovina's energy consumption and 85% of this energy is used for heating.
Under the project, isolation panels and solar panels will be installed, among other things, and led lights will be used in the streets to cut down costs.
''The Swedish government supports with enthusiasm Bosnia Herzegovina - explained Marie Bergstrom, head of the Swedish department for development cooperation - to cut down on carbon emissions, helping the government at all levels to take the road of energetic efficiency that brings economic, social and ecological benefits. The steps the government is taking today will impact the country's emissions for decades''. The plan should also create 400 new jobs. The project, which would wrap up in 2020, will be implemented as part of the UN development program. (ANSA).
