(ANSA) - VIENNA - The ''Kunsthistorisches Museum'' in Vienna will celebrate its 125th anniversary with an exhibition opening on March 8. The ''party culture'' in the Austrian capital will be the focus.

The different attitudes and aspects of this culture, which has emerged and grown in European royal palaces, both in urban and rural areas, through the middle ages and Renaissance, and up until the 18th Century, will be on display until September 18. The exhibition features banquets with foods, drinks, dance and music, with particular attention to the Habsburg residences.

The exhibition is also dedicated to parties in public places, which were held on the occasion of royal coronations, weddings, birthdays, during the carnival, for the consecration of churches and in the markets. In the museum, which opened on the ''Ringstrasse'' on October 17, 1891, you can also see particular props and special exhibition items, belonging to various collections of the Kunsthistorisches Museum. The giant tablecloth - which has never been exhibited before - ordered by the Emperor Charles V on the occasion of a royal party celebrated in 1527, stands out among the exhibitions items. (ANSA).
