(ANSA) - LJUBLJANA, 02 NOV - With 25 deaths over the past 24 hours, Slovenia has recorded the highest daily number of coronavirus deaths since the virus outbreak. There was a slight decrease in the percentage of those testing positives on the number of swabs performed, though the rate remained high, at 24.8%. According to the government's data on its Twitter profile, the tests carried out were 2,244, which confirmed the coronavirus infection in 557 new patients. Eight hundred sixty-eight people are hospitalized, of whom 135 in intensive care. According to the calculations of the Jožef Stefan Institute, the country's leading research institute, the number of hospitalized patients is likely to peak on Friday. In contrast, in a couple of weeks, patients in intensive care are expected to double, reaching 245. Even in light of these data, hospitals are creating additional places for Covid-19 patients, and at the same time, the search for health staff continues.
