Austria strengthens border controls in Italy and Slovenia

Temperature checkpoints at crossings

30 October, 16:22
(ANSA) - BOLZANO/BOZEN, OCTOBER 30 - Austria strengthens health checks on the borders with Italy and Slovenia, ahead of the Austrians' return after the autumn holidays. School vacation ends this weekend, and Interior Minister Karl Nehammer expects an increase in return traffic from southern Europe. "Limiting the spread of the virus is our main priority. The situation is dire", he said. Police and medical staff control the borders for health checks, just like during phase 2, after the lockdown.

These checks involve measuring the temperature and detecting the travelers' place of departure. (ANSA).
