(ANSA) - GORIZIA, NOVEMBER 8 - The great cultural events make a
significant contribution to the economic, occupational and
cultural growth of the territories where they take place, being
able to attract hundreds of thousands of tourists, supporting
different economic sectors, favoring the growth of human
resources and capturing the attention of national and
international media. This is the reason for the Candidacy of
Nova Gorica and Gorizia for European Capital of Culture 2025,
presented today at Palazzo de Bassa in Gorizia, in a meeting
organized by the VG Chamber of Commerce, involving the
Municipalities of Gorizia, Nova Gorica, and the International
Sociology Institute Gorizia (Isig). "We want to share with
businesses and entrepreneurs the added value that a great
cultural event - these are the words of the Chamber president,
Antonio Paoletti - can bring in favor of the local economy." The
meeting was attended by the mayors of Gorizia, Rodolfo Ziberna,
and Nova Gorica, Klemen Miklavič, the regional councilor for
Culture and Sport, Tiziana Gibelli, and the president of the
Matera Foundation, Salvatore Adduce, numerous Italian and
Slovenian companies, and the MEP Elena Lizzi.
Guido Guerzoni, professor at the Bocconi University of Milan,
has analyzed the economic and communication impacts of cultural
capital. "They remain - he said - unique opportunities to
strategically rethink the future of significant areas and make
some places globally known, some cities that otherwise would not
get the attention of traditional and new media." (ANSA).
