(ANSA) - BELGRADE, AUGUST 27 - Serbia deserves to become part of the family of the European Union countries and Slovenia supports Belgrade's path towards accession, Slovenian prime minister Marjan Sarec said during a visit in Belgrade today.

After a meeting with the Serbian prime minister Ana Brnabic, Sarec noted that the EU is not fully prone to enlargement currently, but Ljubljana wants to talk about it, the Serbian government informed in a press release. According to Sarec, the EU accession will not happen overnight but reforms need incentives and the enlargement process can be a motivation.

Sarec also pointed out that Slovenia is good connoisseur of the situation in the region, of the causes of the problems in the Balkans and on the issues on which to focus.

Brnabic expressed the gratitude of Serbia towards Slovenia for its support to the European integration of the Balkan country.
