(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 10 FEB - Serbian President Aleksandar
Vucic said he agrees with the Chinese leader Xi Jinping's stance
in favor of multilateralism and ever more significant and more
intense cooperation on a global level to face and overcome the
biggest common challenges together. Speaking at the annual
summit between China and 17 Balkan and Central Eastern European
countries, which took place yesterday online, Vucic recalled the
Chinese President's speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos,
in which Xi stressed that a divided world could not overcome the
common challenges which the whole of humanity is facing. Then
Vucic commented positively on the substantial increase in trade
between the countries of central and south-eastern Europe and
China. Last year, Vucic said, China was Serbia's third-biggest
trading partner, for an amount of 3.7 billion dollars, an
increase of 30% compared to 2018. Vucic then underlined the
importance of Chinese investments in Serbia in recent years,
citing, in particular, those in the large steel plant of
Smederevo, in the Bor mining area, and the construction of the
Belgrade underground. (ANSA).
