Romania: companies consider to import workers

A million more employees needed by 2022 to sustain growth

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, OCTOBER 29 - Around 25% of companies in Romania are considering to import workforce from abroad, in particular seasonal workers and low-skilled workers, to fill vacancies, a PwC's PayWell report revealed, the portal Romania Insider reported. The PwC report underlined that Romania is already experiencing a workforce shortage caused by migration, ageing and problems related to the education system. The study estimates that in order to support a 3.5% annual growth rate Romania needs one million more employees by 2022, Romania Insider added. "Workforce import can be a short-time fix but, on medium and long term, companies should focus on implementing programs for the education and development of their own employees," said Ionut Sas, of PwC Romania, the portal reported.
