(ANSA) - KARPACZ, 12 SET - We should redesign our cities according to the criteria of sustainability and attractiveness in terms of quality of life. This suggestion was made by the mayor of Pescara, Carlo Masci, who spoke at the panel discussion "The transformation of cities for the impact and consequences of the pandemic" at the 30th Economic Forum of Karpacz in Poland.

Masci had been invited by the organizers, along with the mayors of Poland, Hungary, and Greece (Daniel Beger, Adam Mirkoczki, Miroslaw Karolczuk, Anna Zachariadou), after an in-depth reportage on Pescara broadcast by TV Polska, at the time of the building in no time of the Covid hospital.

At the Forum in Karpacz, the mayor of Pescara met the deputy Economy minister Laura Castelli, the Italian ambassador in Warsaw Aldo Amati, some Polish diplomats, representatives of the Italian-Polish Chamber of Commerce, the director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Krakow Ugo Rufino. "The air links with Warsaw and Krakow - he said - must be the basis of more intense interchanges at all levels." Mayor Masci then visited Auschwitz-Birkenau, a place where the Shoah took place. "A dutiful gesture - he explained - to reflect on the horror of what has happened and reject any resurgence of anti-Semitism and intolerance. Everyone, once in their life, should go to Auschwitz. For us in Pescara, there is one more reason: Pescara - Masci underlined - was among the first cities in Italy to join the European Day of Jewish Culture celebration, which this year will take place on Thursday October 7 (ANSA).
