(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 25 OTT - The establishing of a network of Central and Eastern European music academies is the main goal of the CEI Music Higher Education Network symposium, to be held in Trieste October 26-28th, at the Tartini Conservatory in Trieste.

The event has been organised by the Central European Initiative in cooperation with Tartini and the Bosnian academies of Sarajevo and Banja Luka. According to the organisers, this is a historic milestone for the music institutions of the CEI member countries - following the Trieste symposium the CEI Network will be established, comprising institutions of higher music education from Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine. "During the three day event the representatives of the academies of the participating countries will work on forming a common academic platform dedicated to the unification of educational standards, including e-learning and long-distance events, as well as good administrative practices and evaluation systems", said Ugo Poli, CEI project manager. "We aim at consolidating the existing excellencies, contributing to the development of quality learning, including the application of e-learning technologies such as the Lola project for low latency streaming, promoted by the Tartini Conservatory", said Lorenzo Capaldo, president of Tartini.
