28 May, 11:49Belarus is now registering more confirmed cases of Covid-19 per million people than Italy. Montenegro did not register any new case already in the past 21 days, according to the latest WHO data.
The total number of fatalities in the region is 14.456 (+125), out of which 8349 registered in Germany, 1210 in Romania, 1024 in Poland, 658 in Ukraine 643 in Austria, 505 in Hungary, 317 in Czechia, 273 in Moldova.
Most of cases of COVID-19 in the area were registered in Germany (179364, +362 in the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus (38059, +915), Poland (22074, +443), Ukraine (21905, +321), Romania (18429, +146), Austria (16497, +38), Serbia (11227, +34), Czechia (9050, +48), Moldova (7305, +156), Hungary (3793, +22), Greece (2892, +10), Bulgaria (2460, +27), Bosnia-Herzegovina (2415, +10), Croatia (2244), North Macedonia (2015, +16), Estonia (1834, +10), Lithuania (1639, +4), Slovakia (1513, +2), Slovenia (1469), Latvia (1053, +4), Albania (1050, +21) Kosovo (1038),and Montenegro (324).
In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 43724 confirmed cases and 2148 deaths were registered as of May 27.
In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 4010 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, compared to 3812 in Italy, followed by Moldova (2724) and Germany (2157), while the lowest rate was observed in Slovakia (277 per million) and Greece (269 per million), according to a count based on WHO data. In the region, Moldova has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population in the region (102), followed by Germany (100), Austria (72) and Romania (62), Slovakia the lowest (5). Italy has recorded around 545 deaths per million inhabitants.
Between May 18 and May 25, the highest weekly increase of confirmed cases was observed in Belarus (+22,0%), Moldova (+17.0%), Poland (+15.1%) and Ukraine (+14.1%). In North Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Latvia, Slovenia, Estonia, Germany, Austria, Greece, Slovakia, Croatia and Montenegro the weekly increase of new cases is below 5%.
Between May 11 and May 18, the highest weekly increase of confirmed cases was observed in Belarus (+24,0%), Moldova (+23,0%), Ukraine (+19,0%) and Poland (+15,8%). In Serbia, Greece, Czechia, Lithuania, Germany, Slovakia, Austria, Estonia, Croatia, Slovenia and Montenegro the weekly increase of new cases is below 5%.
Between May 4 and May 11, the highest weekly increase of confirmed cases was observed in Belarus (+36,7%), Ukraine (+26,9%), Bulgaria (21,4%), Moldova (+19,6%), Poland (+16,8%), Romania (+16,7%) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (+13,0%), the lowest in Montenegro (+0,9%), Austria (+1,2%) and Slovenia (+1,3%). Also in Lithuania, Czechia, Croatia, Germany, Slovakia, Greece, Estonia and Kosovo the weekly increase of new cases is below 5%. (ANSA).
