(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 27 - French President Emmanuel
Macron intends to await the outcome of the October 6 elections
in Kosovo to actively engage in the dialogue between Belgrade
and Pristina. Macron spoke with the Serbian Foreign Minister
Ivica Dacic during a brief meeting yesterday in New York on the
sidelines of the UN General Assembly. A statement issued by the
Foreign Ministry in Belgrade reported.
In recent months Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel
took a joint initiative to find a solution to the complex issue
of Kosovo, convening a meeting of the Balkan countries, first in
Berlin and then in Paris.
However, after the first unsuccessful meeting, the second one
was canceled due to the persistent controversy between Belgrade
and Pristina.
To return to the negotiating table, the Serbian party sets as
a condition the abolition of the tariffs, increased by 100%,
imposed by Kosovo in November on imports from Serbia and Bosnia
and Herzegovina. (ANSA).
