Hungary: government keeps fuel price freeze for Hungarians

Budapest "has the right to protect" its people

09 June, 19:32
(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUN 9 - The Hungarian government will maintain "the gasoline price freeze" for the Hungarian citizens but not for foreigners, the Hungarian Secretary of State for International Communication and Relations Zoltan Kovacs said on Twitter today. "The rise in petrol prices is caused by the war.

In a war, the government has the right to protect the Hungarian people," Kovacs said.

Kovacs linked on Twitter a news article about the Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton, allegedly warning Hungary to stop discriminating against vehicles with foreign licence plates or face legal action. (ANSA).
