EU sources, 45 days for more oil for Croatia, Hungary

18-months exemption for Czechia, to be defined for Hungary

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 31 - "The European Council will return to the issue of the temporary exemption for crude oil carried by pipeline as soon as possible," the European summit conclusions read. The timeframe of the exemption for Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic will vary, according to European diplomatic sources. In the case of Budapest, the lifting of the oil embargo is contingent on two conditions. The first is the time it will take Croatia to expand the Adria oil pipeline, which connects the Adriatic to Hungary. Brussels predicts it will take 45-days.

The second aspect is the timeliness of the Hungarian refineries' adaption. The timeliness and amount of European money disbursed under RePowerEu will also be considered. On the second point, the argument is still ongoing because the EU's approval of the Hungarian recovery plan. According to the same sources, the Czech Republic's exemption from the Russian oil embargo will last 18 months. (ANSA).
