(ANSA) - BELGRADE, July 22 - Hungarian President Janos Ader is visiting Belgrade today to attend some official ceremonies to celebrate the anniversary of an important victory of a Hungarian commander over the Turkish army in the Serbian capital city in 1456.

Along with his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic, Ader inaugurated in Zemun, a typical suburb on the Danube, a monument to Janos Hunjadij, known in Serbia as Janko Sibinjanin, a hero who defeated the Ottoman troops leading the Magyar forces. During the ceremony, both leaders emphasized that this battle was decisive for the destiny of the whole of Europe.

Later the two presidents laid a wreath at the monument in memory of those killed during the siege of Belgrade in 1456 in the park of the Kalemegdan Fortress. (ANSA).
