(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 23 JUN - A total of 431.925 confirmed
cases of COVID-19 (+3294 day-on-day), were registered in
countries in Central- and Eastern Europe, Germany, Austria and
Greece, show official data of national authorities received by
the World Health Organization (WHO) by 10:00, June 22. The
growth of COVID-19 cases in the region continues to slow down in
the region, with the exception in the past week of Kosovo, North
Macedonia, Albania and Moldova according to data updated as of
June 22. Belarus has registered more confirmed cases of Covid-19
per million people than Italy. The total number of fatalities
in the region is 16.739 (+61), out of which 8885 registered in
Germany, 1512 in Romania, 1356 in Poland, 1012 in Ukraine 690 in
Austria, 572 in Hungary, 475 in Moldova, 346 in Belarus 336 in
Czechia, 261 in Serbia, 238 in North Macedonia. The highest
number of cases of COVID-19 in the area was registered in
Germany (190359, +537 in the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus
(58505, +569), Ukraine (37241, +681), Poland (31931, +311),
Romania (24405, +315), Austria (17285, +38), Moldova (14200,
+247), Serbia (12894, +91), and Czechia (10498, +50). In
Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans
(Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North
Macedonia, Albania) 58061 confirmed cases and 2674 deaths were
registered as of June 22. In Central- and Eastern Europe,
Belarus has registered about 6164 cases of COVID-19 per million
inhabitants, compared to 3943 in Italy, followed by Moldova
(3520) and North Macedonia (2458), while the lowest rate was
observed in Greece (303 per million) and Slovakia (291 per
million), according to a count by ANSA based on WHO data. In the
region, Moldova has registered the highest number of deaths per
one million population in the region (118), followed by North
Macedonia (115) and Germany (107), Slovakia the lowest (5).
Italy has recorded around 573 deaths per million inhabitants.
Between June 15 and June 22, the highest weekly increase of
confirmed cases was observed in Kosovo (+47,3%), North Macedonia
(+25,9%), Albania (+25,5%) and Moldova (+21,0%). In Serbia,
Czechia, Greece, Croatia, Slovakia, Germany, Lithuania,
Slovenia, Austria, Latvia, Hungary and Estonia the weekly
increase of new cases is between 5% and zero. (ANSA).
