26 May, 10:42The total number of fatalities in the region is 14.202 (+52), out of which 8257 registered in Germany, 1179 in Romania, 996 in Poland, 640 in Austria, 623 in Ukraine, 491 in Hungary, 315 in Czechia.
Most of cases of COVID-19 in the area were registered in Germany (178570, +289 in the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus (36198, +954), Poland (21326, +395), Ukraine (21245, +259), Romania (18070, +213), Austria (16439, +32), Serbia (11159, +67), Czechia (8957, +67), Moldova (7093, +99), Hungary (3756, +15), Greece (2878, +2), Bulgaria (2433, +25), Bosnia-Herzegovina (2391, +20), Croatia (2244, +1), North Macedonia (1878, +37), Estonia (1823, +2), Lithuania (1623, +7), Slovakia (1509, +5), Slovenia (1509, +31), Latvia (1047, +1), Kosovo (1032, +7), Albania (1004, +15) and Montenegro (324).
In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 43091 confirmed cases and 2099 deaths were registered as of May 25.
In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 3814 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, compared to 3801 in Italy, followed by Moldova (2645) and Germany (2148), while the lowest rate was observed in Slovakia (277 per million) and Greece (267 per million), according to a count by ANSA based on WHO data. In the region, Germany has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population in the region (99), followed by Moldova (95), Austria (72) and Romania (61), Slovakia the lowest (5). Italy has recorded around 542 deaths per million inhabitants.
Between May 18 and May 25, the highest weekly increase of confirmed cases was observed in Belarus (+22,0%), Moldova (+17.0%), Poland (+15.1%) and Ukraine (+14.1%). In North Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Latvia, Slovenia, Estonia, Germany, Austria, Greece, Slovakia, Croatia and Montenegro the weekly increase of new cases is below 5%.
Between May 11 and May 18, the highest weekly increase of confirmed cases was observed in Belarus (+24,0%), Moldova (+23,0%), Ukraine (+19,0%) and Poland (+15,8%). In Serbia, Greece, Czechia, Lithuania, Germany, Slovakia, Austria, Estonia, Croatia, Slovenia and Montenegro the weekly increase of new cases is below 5%.
Between May 4 and May 11, the highest weekly increase of confirmed cases was observed in Belarus (+36,7%), Ukraine (+26,9%), Bulgaria (21,4%), Moldova (+19,6%), Poland (+16,8%), Romania (+16,7%) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (+13,0%), the lowest in Montenegro (+0,9%), Austria (+1,2%) and Slovenia (+1,3%). Also in Lithuania, Czechia, Croatia, Germany, Slovakia, Greece, Estonia and Kosovo the weekly increase of new cases is below 5%. (ANSA).
