Croatia: public support for euro introduction falling

Croats concerned entry into eurozone leads to price increase

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUN 11 - A survey conducted by Eurobarometer revealed that support for the introduction of the euro in Croatia has decreased by seven percent in the past year, the Croatian news agency HINA reported. The survey also revealed that Croatians are most concerned about price increases and believe that the kuna will be lost to history as part of the country's identity.

55 per cent of those polled in Croatia said that they were in favour of introducing the euro, which is a seven point drop from the previous year's figure of 62 percent.

The results of the study indicate that Croats are concerned that the introduction of the euro will lead to an increase in prices (81 percent ). (ANSA).
