Croatia: soon cenate about media act

Culture minister announced at Seemf in Zagreb

(ANSA) - ZAGABRIA, NOVEMBER 5 - Culture Minister Nina Obuljen Korzinek announced that the proposal for a new Electronic Media Act will be discussed publicly in two or three weeks and believes. It will be a "step forward in preserving the diversity and sustainability of Croatian media". Korzinek spoke at the opening of the two-day South East European Forum (SEEMF) "The Future of Public Broadcasting and Print Media in South East Europe: Financing, Independency, New Business Models" is the theme of Seemf, yearly international conference about media activities and situation in Balkan area, organised by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, Central European Initiative (CEI) and South East Europe Media Organisation (Seemo).

She also said that media situation in Croatia was analyzed and that the problems were identified in the financing and revenue. Besides, is upcoming Croatian Council of Europe Presidency, so is important face the situation of media sustainability "as well as the function of Croatian radio and television as a public media service is raised''.

She also talked about fake news and misinformation.

Journalists who participated in the first panel of the forum criticized the governments in respect the media, media freedoms and journalistic issues. (ANSA).
