Croatia: Agrokor, the first indictment against Todoric

Former owner investigated over the group financial crash

(ANSA) - ZAGREB, SEPTEMBER 3 - Ivica Todoric, founder and former owner of Croatia's agrifood giant Agrokor, one of the largest companies in the Balkans, was indicted today for abuse of office in a 1,25 million euro fraud case.

Along with the former entrepreneur, three other managers were indicted. They are accused of commissioning in 2013 a fictitious consultation, improperly appropriating the fee which was paid.

This is the first indictment for Todoric and, at any rate, concerns a minor case compared to the main investigation, still in progress, which sees him investigated over the financial crash of Agrokor two years ago, then put under the administration of the government to avoid its bankruptcy.

In November 2018 Todoric was extradited from Great Britain, where he had taken refuge shortly before an investigation into fraud, false accounting and embezzlement of at least 150 million euros belonging to Agrokor was launched in Croatia. (ANSA).
