(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEPTEMBER 18 - The Bulgarian national
nuclear regulator is expected to issue an extension of the
operational license of the unit 6 of the nuclear power plant of
Kozloduy in the next weeks, the specialised portal SeeNews
reported, quoting the Bulgarian Energy ministry.
"This will guarantee the effective work of both units of
Bulgaria's sole nuclear power plant during the period of the
license extension," SeeNews added, recalling that Bulgaria
granted a license extension of ten years to unit 5 back in 2017.
Kozloduy has currently two units of 1,000 MW each. Bulgaria
closed down four older units to address nuclear safety concerns
prior to the country's accession to the European Union, in 2007,
the portal said. (ANSA).
