(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 24 GIU - A total of 434.742 confirmed cases of COVID-19 (+3177 day-on-day), were registered in countries in Central- and Eastern Europe, Germany, Austria and Greece, show official data of national authorities received by the World Health Organization (WHO) by 10:00, June 23. The growth of COVID-19 cases in the region was particularly strong in Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania and Moldova in the past week, according to data updated as of June 22. Belarus has registered more confirmed cases of Covid-19 per million people than Italy.

The total number of fatalities in the region is 16.822 (+83), out of which 8895 registered in Germany, 1523 in Romania, 1359 in Poland, 1035 in Ukraine 690 in Austria, 573 in Hungary, 484 in Moldova, 351 in Belarus 336 in Czechia, 262 in Serbia, 247 in North Macedonia.

The highest number of cases of COVID-19 in the area was registered in Germany (190862, +503 in the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus (59023, +518), Ukraine (38074, +833), Poland (32227, +296), Romania (24291, +246), Austria (17320, +35), Moldova (14363, +163), Serbia (12990, +96), and Czechia (10561, +63). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 58437 confirmed cases and 2706 deaths were registered as of June 23.

In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 6218 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, compared to 3947 in Italy, followed by Moldova (3561) and North Macedonia (2502), while the lowest rate was observed in Greece (305 per million) and Slovakia (291 per million), according to a count by ANSA based on WHO data. In the region, Moldova has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population in the region (120), followed by North Macedonia (119) and Germany (107), Slovakia the lowest (5). Italy has recorded around 573 deaths per million inhabitants.

Between June 15 and June 22, the highest weekly increase of confirmed cases was observed in Kosovo (+47,3%), North Macedonia (+25,9%), Albania (+25,5%) and Moldova (+21,0%). In Serbia, Czechia, Greece, Croatia, Slovakia, Germany, Lithuania, Slovenia, Austria, Latvia, Hungary and Estonia the weekly increase of new cases is between 5% and zero. (ANSA).
