(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 18 GIU - A total of 412.264 confirmed cases of COVID-19 (+3477 day-on-day), of which 187184 in Germany only, were registered in countries in Central- and Eastern Europe, Germany, Austria and Greece, show official data of national authorities received by the World Health Organization (WHO) by 10:00, June 17. The growth of COVID-19 cases in the region continues to slow down in the region, with the exception in the past week of North Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo and Moldova according to data updated as of June 15. Belarus has registered more confirmed cases of Covid-19 per million people than Italy.

The total number of fatalities in the region is 16.284 (+128), out of which 8830 registered in Germany, 1437 in Romania, 1272 in Poland, 943 in Ukraine 681 in Austria, 567 in Hungary, 427 in Moldova, 331 in Czechia, , 318 in Belarus, 256 in Serbia, 201 in North Macedonia.

Most of cases of COVID-19 in the area were registered in Germany (187184, +345 in the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus (55369, +689), Ukraine (33234, +758), Poland (30195, +407), Romania (22145, +250), Austria (17098, +33), Serbia (12426, +59), Moldova (12254, +375) and Czechia (10111, +47). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 53192 confirmed cases and 2529 deaths were registered as of June 17.

In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 5833 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, compared to 3927 in Italy, followed by Moldova (3456) and Germany (2251), while the lowest rate was observed in Greece (292 per million) and Slovakia (285 per million), according to a count by ANSA based on WHO data. In the region, Moldova has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population in the region (120), followed by Germany (106), North Macedonia (97), Austria (76), and Romania (74), Slovakia the lowest (5). Italy has recorded around 569 deaths per million inhabitants.

Between June 8 and June 15, the highest weekly increase of confirmed cases was observed in North Macedonia (+34,0%), Albania (+25,9%), Kosovo (+21,2%) and Moldova (+21,0%). In Serbia, Czechia, Lithuania, Hungary, Estonia, Slovakia, Germany, Austria, Latvia, Slovenia, Montenegro and Croatia the weekly increase of new cases is between 5% and zero. (ANSA).
