(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JUNE 5 - A total of 370.865 confirmed cases of COVID-19 (+2699 day-on-day), of which 182764 in Germany only, were registered in countries in Central- and Eastern Europe, Germany, Austria and Greece, show official data of national authorities received by the World Health Organization (WHO) by 10:00, June 4. The growth of COVID-19 cases in the region continues to slow down in the region, with the exception in the past week of North Macedonia, Belarus and Moldova according to data updated as of June 1. Belarus is now registering more confirmed cases of Covid-19 per million people than Italy. Montenegro did not register any new case in the past 29 days, Croatia in the last 4, according to the latest WHO data.

The total number of fatalities in the region is 15.146 (+72), out of which 8581 registered in Germany, 1288 in Romania, 1092 in Poland, 748 in Ukraine 670 in Austria, 534 in Hungary, 324 in Czechia, 314 in Moldova, 248 in Belarus, 245 in Serbia.

Most of cases of COVID-19 in the area were registered in Germany (182764, +394 in the last 24 hours), followed by Belarus (45116, +861), Ukraine (25411, +588), Poland (24395, no updated data), Romania (19669, +152), Austria (16705, +31), Serbia (11523, +69), Czechia (9438, +74) and Moldova (8795, +247). In Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and in the Western Balkans (Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Albania) 46284 confirmed cases and 2288 deaths were registered as of June 4.

In Central- and Eastern Europe, Belarus has registered about 4753 cases of COVID-19 per million inhabitants, compared to 3859 in Italy, followed by Moldova (3280) and Germany (2198), while the lowest rate was observed in Slovakia (280 per million) and Greece (273 per million), according to a count based on WHO data. In the region, Moldova has registered the highest number of deaths per one million population in the region (117), followed by Germany (103), Austria (75), North Macedonia (70) and Romania (66), Slovakia the lowest (5). Italy has recorded around 556 deaths per million inhabitants.

Between May 25 and June 1, the highest weekly increase of confirmed cases was observed in North Macedonia (+18,5%), Belarus (+17,6%) and Moldova (+16,3%). In Bosnia-Herzegovina, Czechia, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Hungary, Kosovo, Estonia, Serbia, Germany, Latvia, Greece, Austria, Slovakia, Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia the weekly increase of new cases is between 5% and zero.
