(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 29 - A 40-year-old North African man was
beaten to death by a 26-year-old Nigerian man at Terni Monday
after a row between foreigners after a car hit a bike in the
Umbrian city, local sources said Tuesday.
The Nigerian intervened on the side of the man knocked off his
bike while the North African victim was standing up for the
driver, police said.
The victim died of multiple blows to his vital parts, with bare
hands, said police.
An autopsy has been ordered.
The Nigerian's defence lawyer said his client was ready to
provide his version of events, declaring himself innocent.
The man is an asylum seeker who recently returned to Italy after
a stint working in Germany. He works in a factory in Terni.
Carabinieri went to his home on the basis of CCTV footage and
arrested him Monday night, judicial sources said. (ANSA).
