(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 23 - Brothers of Italy (FdI) leader
Giorgia Meloni, the favourite to become Italy's next premier
after Sunday's election, called from prudence on Friday when
asked about comments on the future Italian government by
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Von der Leyen vowed to treat Italy like Hungary and Poland if
the centre right coalition wins Sunday's Italian elections and
goes on to introduce nationalist policies and threaten civil
rights.
"Political parties, parliament are one thing, but with the
commissioners, it's like they are the ministers of the whole
European Commission.
"So I advise prudence, if one believes in the credibility of the
European commissioners and the Commission". (ANSA).
