(ANSAmed) - STRASBOURG, JAN 27 - The parliamentary
assembly of the Council of Europe called on the parliaments of
its member states to discuss the introduction of a vaccination
mandate for all citizens, except for those who cannot be
vaccinated for health reasons and minors, until the full safety
and efficacy of the vaccines intended for them is guaranteed.
The request is contained in the report on Covid approved
Thursday by a very large majority, with 86 votes in favour, 13
against and 10 blank ballots.
The proposal to recommend that governments consider the use
of vaccination passes and certificates to access non-essential
services was rejected.
Most MPs voted for an amendment specifying that "vaccination
certificates should only be used to monitor the effectiveness of
vaccines and their potential adverse effects."
Approved measures included instructing authorities to
"consider introducing a requirement that FFP2-type masks be worn
on public transport, in crowded places and in schools" in order
to reduce the rate of Covid infections, as well as calling on
governments to "prioritise the search for cures for those
suffering long-term from the negative effects of Covid, and to
urgently prepare the necessary resources to do so".(ANSAmed).
