Foreign Minister Secretary-General
Ambassador Ettore Francesco Sequi, acting ion the instructions
of Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio, and in agreement with the
premier's office, on Monday morning summoned Russian Ambassador
Sergey Razov and firmly rejected allegations of amorality on the
part of Italian institutions and media levelled in recent
statements by the Russian foreign ministry, a Farnesina
statement said.
The secretary-general also rejected insinuations regarding the
alleged involvement of Italy's media in an anti-Russian
campaign, the statement said.
Sequi reiterated to Ambassador Razov Italy's condemnation of the
unjustified aggression against Ukraine by the Russian Federation
and reaffirmed the Italian government's hope that a negotiated
solution to the conflict may soon be reached on fair foundations
which respect Ukrainian sovereignty and the principles of
international law.
Finally, he underscored the importance of swiftly defining an
agreement to unblock grain exports from Ukrainian ports in order
to avert grave consequences for global food security, the
statement said.
