Milanesi said after meeting Kenyan Vice President William Ruto
Monday that Italy expects Italian aid worker Silvia Romano to be
swiftly released from captivity in Kenya.
A statement said Moavero had confirmed to Ruto "the strong
Italian expectation for the utmost and dutiful commitment in
view of the rapid liberation" of Romano.
He stressed "how much Italy cares about the careful safeguard
of her safety", the note said.
Romano, 23, was abducted by armed men in a Kenyan coastal
area last week and is believed to be being held in a forest
where she has been forced to wear the niqab.
Kenyan police said last week the kidnappers were surrounded
ad Romano would be freed shortly.
