Italian Alpine skier Federica Brignone
won the women's World Cup Super-G at Kvitfjell, Norway, on
Sunday and made some sporting history in the process.
By notching her 25th career World Cup win she pulled clear of
her injured team mate Sofia Goggia to become the Italian woman
with most victories on the circuit.
She also overtook the legendary Gustav Thoeni and is now the
Italian with the second most World Cup wins, trailing only
Alberto Tomba with 50.
Sunday's triumph took her up to second place in the overall
2023-24 World Cup standings 1,268 points, behind Switzerland's
Lara Gut-Behrami with 1,594.
