(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 18 - Italy lost their final game of the
2023 Six Nations 26-14 in Scotland on Saturday to finish the
tournament winless.
The Azzurri were 19-6 down deep into the second half, but looked
like they might be about to pull off a stunning comeback when
Tommaso Allan scored a counterattack try and Paolo Garbisi
scored a penalty to put them within five points of the Scots.
They were banging hard on the hosts' try line in the closing
stages, but then knocked on, and Blair Kinghorn scored a
sensational try from the ensuing scrum deep in the Scots own
territory to complete his hat-trick.
It is the 18th time that Italy have finished last and picked up
the wooden-spoon booby prize out of 24 seasons in the Six
Nations. (ANSA).
