(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 9 - Italy midfielder Nicolò Zaniolo has
completed his move from AS Roma to Galatasaray.
The 23-year-old, who scored the winning goal when Roma beat
Feyenoord 1-0 to win the UEFA Conference League final last
season, had fallen out of favour with coach Jose Mourinho and
put in a transfer request.
He is moving for a reported transfer fee of 16.5 million euros,
plus another 13 million related to performance-linked bonuses,
50% of which are easily achieved.
He had been linked to AC Milan and Premier League strugglers
Bournemouth during the January transfer window.
Zaniolo, who made his name in the capital after arriving as a
teen in 2018, had come under heavy fire from Roma fans after
asking to leave and had been threatened on one occasion.
He has reportedly signed a contact running until 2027 with an
annual salary of 3.5 million euros and a buy-out clause of 35
million euros.
On social media the player said he had been honoured to play for
Roma and had "sweated for the shirt every time I wore it".
