Serie B side Genoa player Manolo
Portanova on Tuesday got six years in jail for the gang rape of
a 21-year-old woman in an apartment in the historical centre of
Siena on May 30-31 2021.
The player's uncle was sentenced to the same term.
Both defendants opted for a fast-track trial, in which sentences
are generally cut by a third compared to a jury trial.
A third suspect was sent to a jury trial later.
Portanova, a 22-year-old attacking midfielder from Naples,
denied raping the woman with three other men.
Founded in 1893, Genoa is Italy's oldest football team.
They were relegated from Serie A last season, and currently lie
fifth in the second division.
