Juventus defender Giorgio
Chiellini said Tuesday it was "right" to come and play the
Italian SuperCup against AC Milan in the Saudi Arabian port city
of Jeddah despite criticism from Italian politicians including
Interior Minister Matteo Salvini.
Chiellini said the match was a "step forward and not a
problem".
"It certainly won't be us who change the world but
initiatives like this may be a new start.
"I'm happy that this match may be one more reason for the
evolution of this country, for women.
"I don't make judgment son politics, we were welcomed nicely
and I hope the Saudi people remember this game".
Restrictions on women attending games have been eased
slightly for Wednesday's match, where Juve are aiming for their
fifth straight SuperCup and double win.
