Space materials expert Teodoro
Valente has been named the new head of the Italian Space Agency
(AI), replacing Giorgio Saccoccia who served from April 2019 to
this last April, the business and Made in Italy ministry
announced Monday.
A Professor of Material Science and Technology at Rome's La
Sapienza University di Roma, Valente has a degree in mechanical
engineering from the same university, and is an expert in soace
materials and nanotechnology.
He was a consultant for Snamprogetti Spa, as well as visiting
scientist at Osaka National Research Institute in Japan, and
seconded as national expert at the European Commission in the
framework of the COST Actions on Materials.
The decision was taken by the Committee for Aerospace Policies
(Comint). Chaired by Business Minister Adolfo Urso, the
Committee approved the appointment of the new Asi president and
board of directors.
