Premier Giorgia Meloni, Justice
Minister Carlo Nordio and other ministers on Wednesday met at
the premier's office to speed implementation of a decree aimed
at cutting jail overcrowding and improving inmates conditions
amid a spate of prison suicides.
The meeting, sources explained, served to take stock of the next
steps to be taken to deal with the prison emergency, which
"remains a priority" and to make "the decree immediately
operational".
