Premier Giorgia Meloni on Tuesday
hailed Tunisia's recent efforts to prevent migrant boats
departing from its shores after meeting Tunisian President Kais
Saied.
"Up to now we have done an excellent job together with Tunisia,"
Meloni said.
"Landings in Italy decreased significantly in May with respect
to March and April.
"Clearly, we are facing the most difficult season frm this point
of view and we cannot fail to be concerned about the coming
months.
"We think that our common effort in collaboration with the
Tunisian authorities for prevention activities must be
strengthened, especially in the Sfax region, where most of the
illegal migrants depart from".
