Premier Giorgia Meloni on Friday
denied passing tax amnesties in the shape of a 'criminal shield'
allegedly for tax evaders in a recent financial decree helping
people with their energy bills.
In the bills decree, Meloni said, "there is also a norm that
brings our criminal norms into line with our fiscal truce, (but)
a lot of confusion has been made, the opposition says that we
have introduced a criminal tax amnesty, but that is false, we do
not do amnesties.
"The fiscal truce envisages instalments and we have shaped this
norm by establishing that the process remains suspended until
the revenue agency says that you are paying the instalments on a
regular basis".
