The government is considering
introducing special incentives for people to work at weekends in
the tourism sector, Tourism Minister Daniela Santanchè said on
Wednesday.
"There are great employment opportunities in tourism, but for
young people, working on Saturdays or Sundays is tiring; they
are more focused on quality of life and leisure," Santanchè told
parliament during the presentation of a bill on accessible
tourism.
"We are considering incentives so that those who work on
holidays earn significantly more than on normal days," she said,
adding that the details could be worked out over the coming
fortnight.
"This is an area where there really are so many employment
opportunities and where we can envision the famous social
elevator," continued Santanchè, who represents the government,
right-wing Brothers of Italy (FdI) party of Premier Giorgia
Meloni.
