(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 3 - Justice Undersecretary Andrea
Ostellari was placed under a police escort Friday after threats
from supporters of jailed anarchist leader Alfredo Cospito who
has been on hunger strike for over 100 days against the hard 41
bis prison regime he is under, a treatment normally only
reserved for mafia bosses.
Ostellari, a Paduan lawyer and leading member of the rightwing
League party, has been given the brief for inmates treatment as
part of his work at the justice ministry, the Corriere del
Veneto reported.
Cospito, 55, has lost over 45 kg and is in deteriorating health
but determined to continue his fight to get 41 bis lifted for
all prisoners.
Ostellari will be given police protection amid widespread
threats and attacks by anarchists in Italy and abroad in support
of Cospito's fight.
Cospito, head of the Informal Anarchists Federation (FAI), is
serving 30 years for two attacks.
He is serving 20 years for a bomb attack on a Carabinieri
police training academy at Fossano near Cuneo in Piedmont in
2006 and a further 10 years and eight months for kneecapping
Ansaldo Nucleare Managing Director Roberto Adinolfi in Genoa in
2012. (ANSA).
