The post-Fascist Brothers of Italy
(FdI) party on Thursday called for next week's national
post-Communist Festa dell'Unità festival of the centre-left
Democratic Party (PD) to be scrapped because it is in alleged
breach of campaigning norms for the September 25 general
election.
"It's a violation of the rules," said FdI MP Galeazzo Bignami.
"A public space is being given to a party (the PD) without
upholding the rules of the election campaign.
"In Bologna the rules are valid for all, but they are ever less
valid for the PD".
The FdI is poised to lead a right/centre-right coalition to
victory on September 25 when its leader Giorgia Meloni is
expected to become Italy's first post-Fascist and first woman
premier.
