The EU must OK the sixth sanctions
package against Russia including blocking oil imports from
Russia as soon as possible, Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio said
Wednesday.
"I think that the European Union must approve the sixth package
of sanctions to block imports of oil from Russia as soon as
possible," Di Maio said on the margins of an event organized by
farm group Coldiretti in Rome.
"This because if on the one hand there is Russia using arms to
attack Ukraine, on the other the only instrument we have to
defend the Ukrainian people and bring Putin to the table are
certainly sanctions.
"On this, in my view, the EU must accelerate, also because when
you hit oil revenues Russia will have less money to finance this
war".
